This year, having begun to get back into painting, it seemed only fitting that the cross I created on Good Friday was such. Inspiration from Hotere’s Black Window series, the red cross coated in the blood of Christ, the black square represents the darkened sun of the Friday. The golden square represents the hope of Sunday’s resurrection.
